WHAT WE DO
We also have a building in a deprived area of Delhi, India. This is close to Happy’s home and from which we run a school, a church, sewing machine classes and computer courses.

Our School
Happy started the school in 2014. Out of his monthly salary he paid for a teacher to run the school every afternoon.
We knocked down the old building which was without proper foundations and rebuilt it. It has a huge hall that we use as a schoolroom and for community events. It now has a washroom, kitchen and a spare room for weary travellers, or for people visiting family who have only one room homes.

The Sewing Classes
We have sewing classes every weekday evening with beautiful sewing machines that we were able to buy thanks to generous donations.

The Computer Classes
Happy runs 3 month computer classes.
NEW PROJECTS
Goat Rearing
Many of the villagers in farming areas only have small plots of land to grow their crops of wheat and rice. Only a few have enough surplus to make a small income from selling their produce. It is not easy to find work other than helping another farmer which will pay very little. In some cases the nearest town is a few hours work and there’s no guarantee of a job.
In April the Trust purchased two young female goats to give to a family of 5 who live in one room in a small farming village. The Trust also bought food for 5 months for the goats to supplement their grass income. These two females, Joy and Hope, will be taken to meet a buck in September following which we are anticipating 6 healthy baby goats. The family will be able to sell 4 of the goats a few months later. We plan to continue to support other families in farming communities in this way.
OTHER THINGS WE HAVE DONE

Food Parcels
During the Covid lockdown we bought large food parcels for over 200 families. We used our building as a collection point as well as our home in the second lockdown.

Free Eye Clinic
We have opened our building for an eye specialist to run a free eye clinic for our neighbours.

Other Lockdown Activities
During lockdown, as well as distributing food parcels and running a free eye clinic, we:
- Used our building to store catering equipment and gifts for a wedding on behalf of a widow’s daughter.
- Helped many slum dwellers who did not have relevant documentation to access government support . Happy was able to help many neighbours to get the ID required to access support.
